Body Hair Removal Techniques: What Options Are There?

Is there a way to remove body hair from the entire body? Of course! While you may need to call in a professional to help you, chances are there is a way to get rid of the hair on your body. Today, many people are looking at ways to effectively remove the hair that is growing from every part of the body, from the face and neck all the way down to the toes. Is it safe to do this? Yes, in most cases, body hair can be removed without any problems what so ever. And, it can be quite successful as well.

Less Permanent, Less Costly

Another method of hair removal is through waxing. Yes, it is less expensive, but it is also not permanent. And, it can hurt a bit too. To work, a layer of wax is placed onto the skin where the hair to be removed is located. Then, when the wax hardens just enough, it is quickly pulled away. The hair is removed, down to the root. You can do this at home, but it can be faster, more effective as well as offer better results when done professionally. The hair will re-grow, but it will take several weeks for it to do so. Waxing can be painful, but usually only for a few seconds and it is quite effective at removing hair from the follicle.

A Costly, But Good Option

It is able to remove hair faster than, say electrolysis because it can deal with several hair folicles at once, rather than each individually. Laser hair removal is an effective treatment that will work for most areas of the body including the arms and legs, the chest and the back. One of the most effective ways of removing hair from the body in a permanent fashion is through laser hair removal. This can be done rather easily, actually. If you can afford to have it done, you should.

But, it will cost you. Laser hair removal, as effective as it is, costs several thousands of dollars. And, it will take several treatments before the entire area will be completed. In some cases, hairs will re-grow and will need additional attention.

Chicago Hair Laser Removal

Whether you are a male or female, just try out the most practical, the least painful, and the most effective method, that is now available to remove unwanted hair...Laser Hair Removal. Recent breakthroughs in laser technology can get rid of unwanted hair, quickly, easily and with proven long-term results.

Chicago hair laser removal beats all other methods hands down. One of the major benefits with lasers is the ability to treat a large area of skin at once and it only takes a fraction of the time as compared to other conventional methods. The laser technology is designed to treat only the hair follicle and leaves the adjoining areas unaffected. Also, since the laser uses pulses of light to remove hair, there's no irritation to the skin.

People with greater contrast respond best to the Chicago hair laser removal because the laser's light energy is absorbed by the pigment melanin in the skin. Therefore individuals with dark hair and light colored skin get maximum results. However new laser technology has made it possible for people with even dark complexions to get significant results. The cost of the treatment varies depending on the area treated. Needless to say, the larger the area, the greater the cost.

The Chicago hair laser removal treatment is an economically, relatively pain free and time saving method. The American Laser Center in Chicago offers one of the best laser hair removal treatment in the area. There are other offices for laser hair removal in Chicago. Just check out on the expertise of the professional who will treat you. For this you can talk to those who have undergone the treatment under him. Then you can be absolutely sure of the entire process.

Treatment For Permanent Hair Removal

The desire for permanent hair removal in both men and women has created a worldwide craze - Laser Hair Removal. People are queuing up at clinics around the world hoping for the miracle cure to rid themselves permanently of hair in undesirable places. But for permanent hair reduction, the bare reality is that it is very rare that just one session of laser treatment will give the desired result. And here’s why:

Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent ?

Some say YES, some say NO. Studies show that the best-known method of achieving permanent hair removal is Laser Hair Removal, and if the procedure is performed correctly (using the right equipment), permanency is definitely possible. That's because laser hair removal actually kills the hair follicle, which impairs it's ability to grow. But you need to get the hair at the right stage in the growth cycle to ensure permanent hair removal, which means that you will need to undergo a number of treatments.

You see, hair grows in 3 stages, and Laser treatment in the first growth stage (Anagen stage) is the best for permanent reduction. Laser treatment in the other 2 stages (Categen and Telogen) can be less effective, because in these stages new hairs are being formed which may not be target-able by the Laser. So for permanency you will need to undergo a number of laser treatments over time to kill all the hair follicles in that region.

Which Growth Stage is Best for Permanent Hair Removal ?

Everyone's hair grows differently, depending on their age, weight, metabolism, hormonal interactions, genetics, medications and environmental influences. Irrespective of this, hair grows in a cycle which has 3 distinct stages, and the ability of the Laser to target and destroy the hair follicle actually depends on the stage of the hair in the growth cycle. That is because the Lasers used in hair removal actually target the pigment in the hair to “zero in” on the hair follicle. In the initial growth stage of hair, there is more pigment in the hair, thus the Laser is more effective.

Following is an overview of the 3 different hair growth cycle stages, and how effective laser treatment is in each of these stages:

The RESTING or TELOGEN phase lasts 5 - 6 weeks, at the end of which the hair falls out and a new hair begins to form. Approximately 10-13% of our body hair is in this phase at any one time. Again, the new hair will not have any pigment and the laser will not be able to target it. This new hair will shortly enter the ANAGEN stage, and if it is exposed to a Laser treatment when it has entered the ANAGEN stage, then permanency can be expected.

The REGRESSIVE or CATAGEN phase (lasts 1-2 weeks) is the period during which the hair stops actively growing but is not shed. This phase often lasts several weeks comprising about 3 - 4% of our total body hair at any given time. In the early part of this stage, you can expect the same results as in the ANAGEN stage. But later in this stage, a new hair might already be forming, and because it will have no pigment yet, it won’t be destroyed.

The ACTIVE or ANAGEN growth phase (lasts 2-6 years), comprises approximately 85 % of our body hair at any given moment in time. During this ANAGEN phase, the hair shaft and follicle has an abundance of pigment and is most sensitive to the laser light. So in this stage, permanent hair removal is very likely. The Laser will destroy the hair follicle and no new hair will grow.

In summary, each hair on your body will naturally be at a different part of the growth cycle, and that is why it will be necessary in most cases to undergo a number of Laser hair Removal treatments at varying intervals to completely destroy all hair follicles in the region you are targeting. You might be lucky and destroy more than 85% of the hair follicles in the target region with just one treatment, but the statistics point towards needing at least 2 treatments (possibly 3 or more) to totally destroy all hair follicles in any part of the body.

Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is considered to be one of the safest methods for permanent hair removal. In this method, a low-energy laser is applied over the unwanted hair growing areas. The hair follicles in these areas will get damaged by the pulsating light emitted by the laser beam. The hair gets burnt out without damaging adjacent skin and tissues.

Usually a patch test will be performed on the clients to verify that the correct laser and intensity are being used. A qualified professional will do this patch test prior to the laser hair removal procedure.

The main benefit of having laser hair removed is that it can be performed on a large area of the body in one sitting. Moreover, this procedure doesn’t require anesthesia, as this operation can be performed with minimal discomfort. Simple local or topical anesthetic will be used on the persons who experience a higher degree of discomfort.

After completing several treatments, nearly 95 percent of unwanted hairs can be eliminated. Sometimes the hair growth is noticed in the treated area, which will be very coarse. The main advantage of this hair removal method is that it doesn’t require hospitalization, medications, needles or follow-up medical care.

Immediately after treatment with laser hair removal, mild reddening may occur at the place of treatment. This will go away within 24 hours. The laser treated hairs will shed within 1-2 weeks after laser hair removal treatment.
